More on the Pondless Waterfall

The Pondless Waterfall is a waterfall and stream without the pond. The Pondless Waterfall works by channeling and recycling the same water over and over. First, a hole, deeper than a normal pond, is dug, then lined and filled with rock, gravel and water. This hole becomes a reservoir. The water is then circulated from beneath the rocks and gravel by a pump that sits on the bottom. The water runs through a pipe up to a BIOFALLS filter and down a constructed waterfall and stream, where it falls back in the reservoir.

Do It Yourself

Living Art supplies pond kits for the handy "Do-It-Yourselfer." Our Pond Kits are boxed with everything you need except rocks, plants, and fish, and are even shipped right to your door! Our service professionals are available to answer all of your questions about installation and pond care.

Water Garden Maintenance

Properly designed and installed water features are not a lot of work to maintain. Pond maintenance typically takes less than 15 minutes and is performed every 7-10 days. Incorporating key elements into your pond ensures that time is spent on enjoyment, not on upkeep.

Plants

Aquatic plants add color and texture to the water garden. They are also one of the most important factors in maintaining clear water. Plants feed rapidly on excess nutrients in their environment and starve out planktonic algae. We can help you choose from the numerous varieties of aquatic plants to have your water garden looking pristine while leaving the planting up to us!

Filtration

Pond skimmers house the pump and draw surface debris from the pond. Leaves and other debris are trapped in the skimmer filters and prevented from settling on the pond bottom. Coupled with a “Bottom Drain,” skimmers will also efficiently remove a majority of the dust and fine sediment that is likely to settle in the pond. Biological Filtration helps remove excess nutrients from the water and breaks down fish waste.

Fish

We strongly recommend this little splash of life to every pond. Fish add movement and wonder to the water garden and are considered crucial to the pond ecosystem. They feed on insects and larvae, shift the pebbles removing algae, and are a source of nutrients to aquatic plants.
